The Senior Director of IT – Healthcare is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing and driving the development, implementation, and management of technology solutions that support clinical and operational systems within the healthcare organization. This position is instrumental in shaping the future of healthcare IT infrastructure, ensuring that technology systems are secure, efficient, and aligned with the goals of improving patient care, streamlining operations, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

Job Description

• Lead and develop the IT department’s vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with the healthcare organization’s overall objectives.
• Provide executive leadership in the planning, implementation, and management of innovative healthcare IT solutions, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Health Information Exchange (HIE), telemedicine platforms, and clinical data management systems.
• Oversee the design, optimization, and maintenance of IT infrastructure supporting clinical systems, business operations, and patient services.
• Ensure all systems are compliant with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant standards and laws.
• Manage a team of IT professionals, including IT managers, system administrators, and project leads, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities to IT staff, ensuring continuous professional growth and knowledge of emerging healthcare technologies.
• Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies to protect sensitive patient data and ensure systems are resilient against breaches, with regular risk assessments.
• Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to develop and execute disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
• Lead large-scale IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring on-time delivery within budget while meeting organizational and healthcare-specific requirements.
• Oversee vendor management for third-party IT solutions, negotiating contracts, managing service-level agreements (SLAs), and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
• Develop and manage the annual IT budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and cost-effective solutions that support the organization’s IT needs.
• Identify opportunities for technology-driven cost savings and operational efficiencies.
• Partner with clinical, operational, and executive leadership teams to understand their technology needs and provide IT solutions that enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on emerging technologies, industry trends, and IT best practices.
• Ensure the organization’s IT systems adhere to all healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, HITECH, Meaningful Use, and other applicable healthcare standards.
• Conduct regular audits and assessments of IT systems to ensure compliance and mitigate any potential legal or financial risks.
• Drive continuous innovation and the adoption of new technologies, such as AI, machine learning, and predictive analytics, to improve patient outcomes and enhance operational performance.

Required Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of healthcare IT systems and data analytics tools.
• Experience with IT compliance and regulatory standards in the healthcare industry, including HIPAA
• Expertise in IT infrastructure, cloud computing, data security, and systems integration. 
• Effective problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking, with the capability to manage competing priorities. 
•  Clear and coherent in both communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
