Accounting Associate

Responsibilities

• Perform general accounting tasks, including account reconciliations for cash, bank, prepaid assets, and other ledger accounts.
• Resolve reconciliation exceptions and outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Maintain subsidiary ledgers and ensure accurate general ledger entries, including accruals, prepaids, and expense allocations.
• Process vendor invoices and employee reimbursements, ensuring proper GL account coding and approvals.
• Ensure accurate accounts payable disbursements and timely general ledger postings.
• Review and validate transaction data for compliance with policies and proper authorization.
• Process entries for accrued expenses and other accounts payable-related transactions.
• Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger and prepare entries for amortization and accruals.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding accounts payable and subsidiary ledger transactions.
• Prepare necessary IRS reports (e.g., Form 1099-MISC) and maintain transaction records.
• Process entries for corporate card transactions and employee travel reimbursements, ensuring proper approvals and documentation.
• Assist auditors and finance teams with year-end reports and other financial documentation.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for the Accounts Payable function.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions like basic calculations, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and PivotTables.
• Experience using accounting software (ERP systems or accounts payable software) and familiarity with general ledger systems.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders in a professional and customer-oriented manner.
