Responsibilities
- Acts as an effective liaison between the patient, surgeon, and the surgical facility in all aspects of pre-operative preparations.
- Schedule all patient surgeries and post-operative follow up appointments.
- Exhibit charisma, empathy and patience when speaking with patient and patient’s family.
- Prepare and distribute surgery materials and instructions to patient prior to surgery.
- Possess comprehensive understanding of all surgical specialties, elective packages, and surgeon preferences.
- Obtain necessary pre-authorizations from insurance carriers.
- Collaborate with the surgery center and other surgical facilities to manage the surgeon’s schedule and schedule appropriately.
- Coordinate with outside clinics for the scheduling of co-managed surgeries, including scheduling post-ops with those clinics and sending them appropriate paperwork at specific times.
- Coordinate surgeries involving more than one surgeon when appropriate.
- Manage patient prescriptions, administers prescription protocol, and works with pharmacy to fill prescriptions.
- Document appropriate information in EPM and EMR and fills out appropriate clinic forms and patient consent forms.
- Maintain thorough communication records in cloud-based systems.
- Work closely with assigned surgeon to ensure calculations have been made and IOLs, tissues, etc. have been ordered prior to surgery.
- Work closely with Specialty Center Consultant regarding advanced package opportunities.
- Handle financial transactions for self-pay and cosmetic procedures.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in surgery scheduling is preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience is preferred.
Screening Criteria
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- At least one (1) years experience in scheduling.
- Must have stable employment history
