Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Marine Operations Managers to ensure seamless daily operations.
- Act as a liaison between onshore management and vessel crews to facilitate effective communication and problem-solving.
- Support various administrative functions related to marine operations, including documentation, reporting, and compliance checks.
- Utilize vessel management software to support the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Ensure compliance with the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and other relevant regulations.
- Coordinate and document routine and preventive maintenance tasks on vessels.
- Ensure that maintenance schedules are adhered to and properly recorded.
- Provide technical support and guidance to crew members on engineering and operational issues.
- Monitor and report on the performance of marine systems and suggest improvements.
- Ensure vessels meet all safety, operational, and regulatory standards through regular inspections and audits.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing safety procedures and protocols.
- Coordinate and document emergency response drills and training sessions.
Qualifications
- Strong preference for candidates with engineering experience; deck officer experience will also be considered.
- Experience in maritime operations within the Hawaiian Islands.
- Familiarity with the logistics and operational challenges of inter-island shipping.
- Knowledge of US maritime regulations and standards.
Screening Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Mariner.
- Valid maritime certifications and credentials such as Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW), ISM Code Auditor, or other recognized maritime safety and operations credentials.
- Must have a stable employment history.
